Answer: This apple-grafting exercise was a highight of the Gardeners' of Eden early meetings.

In fact, there are a couple of trees surviving still, bearing the unidentified varieties that were grafted that day. John is looking to Joan, who is pretty handy with a knife. We think this took place about 2011.
