Our club, Gardeners of Eden, was formed in 2003 by 12 enthusiasts who wanted to learn more about gardening in a challenging northern climate. Their aim was to arrange a friendly, non-competitive programme of meetings that would interest amateur gardeners in the Kirkby Stephen area. Membership soon grew to well over 50 gardeners and friends!

Winter meetings are held at 2:00 pm on the first Tuesday of each month in The Friends Meeting House, across from the Spar in Kirkby Stephen. We invite speakers on a wide variety of garden related topics.

On the May Bank Holiday, we hold our annual fund-raising plant sale at the Cloisters in Market Square.   Members bring young plants they have nurtured or healthy plants from divisions to offer a locally acclimatized variety.

During the warmer months, we arrange visits to gardens near and far to historic, award-winning and sometimes unusual, private gardens. There is usually a day spent touring the gardens of members who kindly volunteer to show us their passions – or their problems!

If you want to come along, please email our Membership Secretary at sue.mallerstang@gmail.com to confirm details of the next meeting.
